  • Report Detail - Day 25 --> 21 days left

    Day 25 started out in Ogallala, NE and we concentrated our efforts in western Kansas. A lot of travel time on route 61S, then going east on route 40, then back west on 40, then back east on 40, then south on routes 25 and 27. Today`s storms produced no fewer than 5 land spouts which were visible to some of the Vortex2 crew. Throughout the day we targeted storms, then would abandon them in favor of other storms, only to have the original ones rapidly intensify, and with us being out of position, we had to travel quickly on the highways and byways to get back into position for an interception. However no complete interception happened today. We travel over 700 miles today, which made it a very long and tiring day. However, the day wasn`t a total disappointment as we were treated to a spectacular display of mammatus clouds and a vibrant long-lived double rainbow.
